OMBRE BLU is a luxury crewed Lagoon 500 Catamaran, which specialises in charters in Italy ~ in Sicily & the Aeolian Islands, Amalfi Coast & the Gulf of Naples and in Sardinia.

Your hosts, Italian Captain/Chef Francesco and his Australian wife, Melissa will take you on a unique and authentic cultural adventure along Italy’s magnificent coastline and islands. You’ll cruise crystal clear waters in maximum comfort and you’ll be treated to the best local wines and cuisine both onboard and ashore.


Built for stability and comfort as well as speed, OMBRE BLU is spacious, handsomely appointed, and has a wonderfully open and airy atmosphere below decks. The boat features a very spacious salon with large, wraparound windows. There's a state of the art DVD entertainment system with stereo sound, plus Satellite TV and high speed internet access. Accommodation is in three private queen cabins with island beds each with en-suite bathrooms and separate shower. Each cabin has its own stereo hi-fi system. Naturally, OMBRE BLU is air conditioned throughout.


Together, Melissa & Francesco have created OMBRE BLU to offer their guests a unique, flexible and personalised cruising experience. They pride themselves on the unique and specialised services they offer. Be as relaxed or adventurous as you like. There are different packages available for everyone, from diving and courses with your own private instructor, to Italian/Sicilian cooking demonstrations & wine tastings; personally guided walking tours, volcano climbs and a relaxing massage to end the day.

• 'All Inclusive' add-on packages are in addition to the Charter Fee, and include meals, beverages, and special itinerary inclusions

Francesco is a native of Venice and has spent every summer of his life at his family vacation home in the Aeolian Islands.  After studying law in Milan and at the University of California, Berkley, he practiced in Italy for several years, before his love of the sea drove him to change careers. He moved to the Pacific, working on luxury yachts.

Certified as a PADI Dive Instructor, he was able to guide clients on underwater tours.  He has sailed thousands of miles during the course of his yachting career and earned his international commercial Skipper’s ticket in Cape Town, South Africa. He has since worked as a Skipper, both in the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean.

An accomplished cook, Francesco is your head chef on Ombre Blu, following in the tradition of his two sisters, who are successful restaurateurs in the Veneto region. Like everyone in his family, he is passionate about good food.

Melissa was born in Tasmania, an Australian state famous for sailing. She eventually moved to Sydney, where she studied Business and Human Resources management. During her corporate career she managed the start-up of a professional football team. After four years of handling player contracts, sponsorships, publicity and special events, she decided on a change of pace and accepted an offer to crew on an ex-Sydney-to-Hobart racing yacht. The experience led to a permanent career decision.

A fully qualified massage therapist, she combined her massage expertise with her love of the sea and secured contracts on board ‘Superyachts’, working as a private therapist for clients such as Rupert Murdoch & Cherie Blair.  She has logged thousands of sea miles and earned her international Skipper’s ticket in Cape Town, South Africa.  After meeting & marrying Francesco she moved to Italy, where she has become fluent in the language and has developed a deeper understanding of its culture and people.
